Job Description

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama; or a bachelor’s degree in business or related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and one year of computer programming or EHR build experience.

These are the job duties required of the position.

Designs, builds, configures, installs, and maintains enterprise software; researches, designs, implements, and manages software programs; tests and evaluates new programs; identifies areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently develops these modifications; writes and implement efficient code; determines operational practicality; develops quality assurance procedures; develops software tools, processes, and metrics; maintains and upgrades existing systems; develops training materials and trains users, when needed; works closely with IT staff, clinical staff, and administration; adheres to University and Health System policies including those related to confidentiality and HIPAA; maintains strong technical understanding of organizational EHR related systems to include Cerner, AthenaHealth, and Phillips; participates in on-call rotation; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours are required; related duties as required.
